Valuable lessons for the young folk

The first lesson is, don’t take naked pictures of yourself doing, uh, naked things with your naked girlfriends. The second is, if you must do this, don’t leave it on your laptop, trash it or back it up on an external, encrypted drive and lock it in a safe somewhere, like, a bank. The third is, if you’re famous, and your girlfriends also happen to be famous, don’t leave your broken laptop to be fixed in the place where you’re famous.

Was he wronged? Absolutely. Possible breach of contract, theft, and invasion of privacy, even if he and the people in the photos are celebs, but I have questions around similar cases where pedophiles take their computers into the shop for repair and are busted when the repair staff “discover” incriminating pictures or video, why those cases are not covered under the same principles. Anyway, if it had happened here, I think I would sue the repair shop in civil proceedings and I would think the courts would quickly find in favor of the plaintiff. Was it his responsibility to make sure that those photos weren’t being seen by anyone else but him? Absolutely. But the repair shop clearly took positive action and I’d feel the same way if someone there found info on my laptop about my credit card or bank account and used that information to my detriment.
