wp_footer() is not optional strictly speaking. Leave it off, the scrobbler’s AJAX function doesn’t work, etc, etc.
First week with Bad Behavior. Bad Behavior blocks 98%+ of comment spam, the rest is caught by Akismet. At least here anyway. Get it.
