Regarding cath labs

The one thing I have learned from the last three weeks on the job is, you do not want to wind up on a cath lab table for a hemodynamics exam. Believe me. Do whatever you can to stay off a fluoroscopy table waiting to be catheterized. Exercise, eat a healthy diet, etc.

Funny thing on the way to the conference room…

As we were scrounging around for a meeting space today, one of the Infosys guys told me something a manager once told him: if you go to work at a company that has lots of available meeting rooms, then either they are super organized about how they schedule meetings, or there is not a lot [...]

Hmm

On the work blog it sometimes takes me a while to get stuff done. That long post took pretty much about a week to get through just working a few hours on it each night, capture of images, editing, commentary, so on. Probably best to release something like that in installments.

Have you ever

looked out onto what seemed to be a free weekend which then revealed that, contrary to what you had believed, there was a shiteload of things to do because you’d put them off for several weeks (or months) straight?

Immediate speed and performance improvement with fewer resources. I’d thrown 2GB at Parallels and it was still a bit sluggish. I was much faster at 512MB on Fusion. Go figure. If you have [...]

And the winner is

. . .the 2.2GHz Intel Core Duo Macbook, along with a 4GB upgrade via OWC. Why the Macbook? Weren’t we just talking about the iMac? Well, to begin with, it was $200 off, being refurb, and hadn’t had any issues with refurb in the past, not that that is any indicator of future performance, but [...]

The 62 Archer Bus

I think the 62 Bus is possibly one of the most interesting and diverse bus routes in the entire city. It stretches all the way from the Southwest side near Midway, up through Latino and Polish neighborhoods into Chinese, Latino ones in Bridgeport, Chinatown, then through some African American and increasingly gentrified neighborhoods of the [...]

Sunday notes

I’m not sure why — maybe the two pieces of leftover naan I had this morning had something to do with it — but, Sunday morning turned into a catchup period for all the sleep I lost this week. I suspect my body is reacting to stress in my life, which is made manifest in [...]
