“Great fortune and New Year’s isn’t even here yet”

It’s been reported on Simon Li’s morning show on Toronto AM770, 軟硬今朝, and on his blog, that Canada Post has made some sort of printing error on their Chinese New Year stamps, with one word being truncated from the stamp sheet at the end of each line. There’s been a bit of a run on the stamps among the Cantonese community there as a result . . . . Oddly enough, no one has reported the error.

If the printing error was on the stamps themselves, for instance, if the stamps were printed, 2007, Year of the Dog, instead of Year of the Pig, I think they would be worth much, much more. But if the printing error occurred in the English, French and Chinese copy that explains the significance of the New Year, underneath the stamps, it may be that the error itself is relatively minor. . . and therefore, the stamps really aren’t worth that much more, if anything at all beyond the stamp value.
