Gene Moy (梅忠毅) says, "Git 'er done!" More about Gene »
Angel Heart has run its course — 50 episodes — and a series I had declared to be the feel good anime of 2006 still holds true. Sure it got a bit formulaic pretty early, but, I still watched, mostly, out of nostalgia and loyalty to the franchise; I was not disappointed.
Now begins Antique Bakery, a story involving the first non-stereotypical, openly gay supporting characters and relationships I’ve ever seen in anime, which revolves around the mysterious history of a boy who is kidnapped by a shadowy man who feeds him cakes, and from whom he eventually escapes, only to open a patisserie decades later. So far it’s been good. And Mr Ajikko, another food anime, which I believe ran 99 episodes in 1987, seems to be on its way as well.
